Starting in the early 2000’s, Richmond’s abandoned but architecturally significant warehouses were converted to modern multifamily residential buildings; manufacturing plants were adapted as artists’ spaces; and vacant lots were transformed by infill developments with offices, retail spaces, and restaurants. Most importantly, people returned to Richmond’s urban neighborhoods where they could live, work, and play in the same walkable community.
Amid this rebirth of urban Richmond, One South Commercial was also born.
